History of Tartan Day

Tartan Day commemorates the drafting by the then Chancellor of Scotland of the Declaration of Arbroath in the Arbroath Abbey in the year 1320. Many scholars call this document Scotland’s Declaration of Independence, and it served as a model for the US Declaration of Independence.
